lay your head on my skirt.

my pillowcase skirt... the elastic made me yell once or twice but it was quick and easy. I may try to make some more to sell... we'll see what happens.

comfy.

a square of chess, anyone?

It has become very common for me to bake something special on the weekends. For Memorial Day weekend, it was my friend Jessie's Chess Pie Square recipe... yum!

It looked so perfect when I pulled it out of the oven...

Here they are all cut up and ready to eat...

Take note: David eats a non-chocolate dessert!!!

These squares were delish! They may be a bake sale item.

forgotten pound cake.

Organizing pics... found a few about a pound cake I never blogged about... David helped me make it.

isn't he adorable in his boxers... like a little homemaker!

this was after we ate the delicate crust off the top!!

It was good... especially with vanilla ice cream.

I think I have a severe sugar addiction. I must get back to more crafting and less baking!!!

when life gives you lemons, make lemon bars!

I've been on such a big sweets kick... I think I may be addicted to sugar. Nonetheless, I made lemon bars the other day as trial run to make sure I could make some good ones for a bake sale that's coming up...

yum.

Now I have to decide what else I can make for a summer bake sale. Maybe strawberry cake??

message in a bottle...

coming in from the gym today, I opened my mail receptacle (it's not so much a box so we have to call it something else) and received probably the most unique piece of mail I've ever received.... a wedding invitation to my cousin's wedding in Hawaii.

a message in a bottle...

message delivered!!

pretty awesome I must say... I have to give credit to my lovely cousin Doobie (yes her name is actually Doobie!) I'm glad to be related to creative people!!

tomatoes vs. tangerines

what a lovely day to head to the local farmer's market where I spent exactly $6.50 on 12 honey bell tangerines (mmmmm! juicy, flavorful and seedless!) and 6 vine ripe tomatoes. Now I have to decide which one to eat first...

I think I'll go with that juicy honey bell... then tonight I'll fix a veggie sandwich with a big fat tomato slice on it! Perfect!

earrings and a ruff

I have been busy lately... but not too busy to make a couple of things. So let me share...

I have fallen in love with this website www.cutoutandkeep.net
It's kinda like a myspace for crafters... I LOVE it!
And I saw these earrings on there so I had to try and make them myself in black and in green... rhumba earrings!!

Now the other creation I have came from this nifty little book that my brother and his family gave me for Christmas....

I made a ruff. It's like a small little ruffly scarf that fits around your neck and keeps you warm... just in time for a hot Alabama summer, right?? At least I'll have it for when the coldness comes back at the end of the year.

In other news, Oscar is doing much better. He had surgery Wednesday and everything is flowing nicely! Hooray for healthy, happy, shaved cats!!

he's happy because he doesn't have a cone on his head in this pic!
