DIY felt/fabric hair clip

what you need:
felt, fabric, button, barrette or clip, hot glue, pinking shears

cut two squares of felt with pinking shears (I fold the felt in half to cut), then cut one square of fabric slightly smaller.

hot glue the two pieces of felt together and then the fabric on top

hot glue button on top of fabric... I hope you haven't burnt yourself yet!!

hot glue fabric to barrette.

you did it!

I wore this to a St Patty's Day party.  People loved it.

DIY felt heart clip

ah... in the spirit of Valentine's day and all things heart-shaped, I've decided to give a hearty DIY.

cut out 2 felt hearts.
I did this freehanded, but if your freehanded heart is wonky, click here.

using a contrasting thread color, sew your hearts together.

it should now look like this.

bust out your hot glue and a clip.
glue clip on diagonally... or however you like.
I like diagonal.

boom.
clip it on.
it would be a super cool hair clip, too!

DIY felt flower

It's always good to know how to make a felt flower... you never know when you may need one.

tools.  felt, scissors, hot glue gun.

cut a strip of felt.

I eyeballed it.  It's about 1.75 inches wide.

hot glue it in half.
*make sure you hot glue just the edge.

cut small slits all the way down the edge.
*opposite the hot glue edge, fool.

stop, drop and roll.
*stop and drop are optional.

this is what it should look like upside down.

and right side up.

now use your fingers to fluff the petals.

whoa!  they're multiplying!!
*notice different slit widths make a different looking flower.
**a shorter length on the felt gives you a smaller flower.

Now you can make a flower for your hair, make a wreath, gift wrap, make a picture frame, make a pizza... NO do NOT put felt flowers on your pizza.  I just wanted to make sure you were paying attention.

I love handmade gifts.  I love giving them and receiving them.  Here's what I did for my nieces this year...

I came across these chipboard letters at the craft store so I painted them with acrylic paint.

easy peasy.

then a little mod podge and glitter.

I love sparkles!

added a felt flower and some ribbon to the back!

ready to hang on 2 little girl walls!

my new summer wreath

Since we have a ton of burlap left over from our wedding, I decided to put some of it to good use by making a summer wreath.  I bought a pack of felt in bright colors, made some felt flowers and had a hot gluing extravaganza!

(playing around with photo editing today... makes my pics look cooler without having to buy a super cool camera!!!)
