DIY sparkly star

we went to a casual party for New Year's, so we didn't get dressed up.  I wanted to be sparkly though so I made this to wear in my hair.  Here's how it went down...

I drew a star on card stock, cut it out, traced it onto some felt (any color would do) and cut it out again.

I glued the card stock star to the felt star.

I painted the card stock a metallic gold.
(you probably could skip this step, but I wanted to make sure kraft color didn't show through the glitter)

After the paint dried, I put a thin coat of Mod Podge on the star and immediately covered it in glitter.

shake, shake shake and there you are!

hot glue a barrette on the back...

and stick it in your hair!
now I'm sparkly.  thank goodness!

Christmas dump, part 2... DIY sparkle letters

I love handmade gifts.  I love giving them and receiving them.  Here's what I did for my nieces this year...

I came across these chipboard letters at the craft store so I painted them with acrylic paint.

easy peasy.

then a little mod podge and glitter.

I love sparkles!

added a felt flower and some ribbon to the back!

ready to hang on 2 little girl walls!

sparkle!!

As a massage therapist, I usually have to keep my nails ridiculously short.  People will see my nails and ask me if I'm a nail biter because I'm not supposed to have any white showing.

However, since I have been massaging less, I've been able to have a little fun with my nails.

hooray for sparkles!

my crafty weekend...

so it wasn't this past weekend but it still happened fairly recently...

I went to visit my niece for her 5th birthday and we spent quite a crafty day together.
first, we bought some beads and made bracelets...

which arm is the 30 year old and which is the 5 year old?
almost hard to tell except for the 30 year old has big mama veins in her hands :(

Then, we decided to buy some t-shirts and paint them for fun... it was very important to have pink, purple, and something sparkly on the shirts. So we went with sparkly paints.

kat hard at work.

our finished products.

More blogs to come... I PROMISE!!
