paper cranes

for our wedding, we folded 1000 of these things...

and we hung for the ceremony...

and I didn't want to fold another paper crane for a very long time.

However, my sweet nieces asked me after the wedding if I would make some cranes for them to hang in their bedrooms.  And this weekend I finally got a spark that made me want to fold cranes again.  So here they are... a little more exciting paper for little girls' rooms!

still need to be strung up to hang...

pops and puppet

Today we celebrated my sweet little niece's 8th birthday.  I make cake pops quite a bit, but she wanted teddy bear cake pops!  what?!  I only make the round ones covered in sprinkles.  Who would show this child Bakerella's website and make me feel like the less than perfect cake pop artist that I may or may not be.

So I did a trial run.  It was embarrassing.  So embarrassing that I couldn't even bear to take a picture and post it.  Then our power went out yesterday during the time I had to set aside to work on these dreaded bears... and stayed out until about 3am.  So I dragged my tired butt out of bed at 6am and worked... then I stressed, texted my sister-in-law, then said screw it I'm making these things and taking them to the party whether they look good or not.

don't judge.  they're creepy, I know.

she's awesome because she loves my creepy bear head pops.

I redeemed my ability to create cool, beautiful things by making a puppet as her gift.  I can't wait for some puppet shows in my near future!!!

my crafty weekend...

so it wasn't this past weekend but it still happened fairly recently...

I went to visit my niece for her 5th birthday and we spent quite a crafty day together.
first, we bought some beads and made bracelets...

which arm is the 30 year old and which is the 5 year old?
almost hard to tell except for the 30 year old has big mama veins in her hands :(

Then, we decided to buy some t-shirts and paint them for fun... it was very important to have pink, purple, and something sparkly on the shirts. So we went with sparkly paints.

kat hard at work.

our finished products.

More blogs to come... I PROMISE!!
