DIY: how to resize a tee

I got a couple of new shirts for work the other day (we have to wear shirts with our logo) and even after I washed them, they fit me like a maternity shirt.  Pretty awkward I must say.  So I figured I'd make them fit me better AND show you how to to do it, too!

Turn your shirt inside out and lay a shirt that fits you how you like on top of the shirt to be altered.
Then mark the outline of the fitted shirt onto your new shirt.
*the sleeves of my shirt fit just fine, so I only altered the sides and left the sleeves alone.

Sew along the marks that you made onto your shirt.

Cut along the edge of the stitch.

I added a zig zag stitch for sturdiness.  If you have a serger, serge away!!

done in less than 15 mins.
Now you know where I work.
Please don't stalk me.

polka dot nails!

somebody got fancy with their fingernails!

this girl.

"How did you make those dots?" you ask.
I put a straight pin in a pencil eraser, then dipped it in the polish.
boom.

DIY sparkly star

we went to a casual party for New Year's, so we didn't get dressed up.  I wanted to be sparkly though so I made this to wear in my hair.  Here's how it went down...

I drew a star on card stock, cut it out, traced it onto some felt (any color would do) and cut it out again.

I glued the card stock star to the felt star.

I painted the card stock a metallic gold.
(you probably could skip this step, but I wanted to make sure kraft color didn't show through the glitter)

After the paint dried, I put a thin coat of Mod Podge on the star and immediately covered it in glitter.

shake, shake shake and there you are!

hot glue a barrette on the back...

and stick it in your hair!
now I'm sparkly.  thank goodness!

I've really been needing some new hair accessories, so I sat down and threw these together pretty quickly.

sparkle!!

As a massage therapist, I usually have to keep my nails ridiculously short.  People will see my nails and ask me if I'm a nail biter because I'm not supposed to have any white showing.

However, since I have been massaging less, I've been able to have a little fun with my nails.

hooray for sparkles!

my style: honeymoon dress repurpose!

I was so excited to buy some beachy clothes for our honeymoon so I bought this dress off of Modcloth...

aw.

Since I haven't worn the dress since the honeymoon (6 months ago), I figured it was time to make a little use out of it.  So I cut the top off of it and made it into a skirt!

I like this length much better.

tank top: old, cardigan: Forever21, skirt: Modcloth repurposed, shoes: UO

who stepped on my toes?

After having an oh-so-girly night last night talking about only the things girls talk about when we get together, I decided to make my toes look like they were slammed under a post office door by painting them black! It's been probably about 6 or 7 years since I've done the black toenails thing (when I thought I looked so rebellious in college). I figured it was time to bring back my rebellious youth...

ouch!
