today I talk about oscar

blog posts are supposed to be about what's on your mind... well, today, and the last few days... it's Oscar the cat.

He had his 3rd blockage this weekend. And of course it had to be on the weekend. And of course I had to take him to the emergency vet after the most pitiful meow I've ever heard.

He's getting better but still at the vet (now his regular vet... emergency broke me!)

So say a little prayer for my sweet little man...

we went to the zoo on Sunday.
It was a zoo!
there were so many people there.
At least I got this fine shot of a zebra's butt...

Oh and a big turtle looking me right in the eyeballs!

we met some pretty forthright animals that day.

this is what my saturday night consisted of...

I decided to bake a cake for our two friends nordan and nathan who are both experiencing birthdays within a week of each other. So we headed to nordan's most distinguished kitchen for the festivities. On the way there, we decided to shake our heads as fast as we could while taking a picture... this is what we came up with...

we all look like we have something terribly wrong with us.

Then, cake time at nordan's... mmm, mmm, mmmmmm!

Why does Nordan keep a bowl full of sharpies on his kitchen table??? So I can draw on napkins with them while we have birthday banter.

more mexican?

yes. don't judge me. I like mexican. I like empanadas. I made these and they were good. It was my first time so don't criticize. They were really good with ice cream.

We'll see what kind of craftiness I can get into this weekend.

mexican wedding cakes or cookies??

I don't know if they should really be called cakes... they look and act like cookies to me. I made some for a party the other day... here's the results.

David and I had a date the other night. It was nice... but the nicest part was when we found these tiny one serving size ben and jerry's ice creams...

so tiny and cute!

They even came with tiny little plastic spoons in the top part of the lid...

the crappiest little spoon I've ever seen!

When I opened my ice cream, it was all stuck to the lid of the container...

yum yum!

David has a severe addiction to chocolate ice cream so it makes him very happy when I share his addiction with him.

we are a sweet couple!

We really didn't share one serving. We had one each... but it's cuter to pretend like we were eating out of one container. We devoured that stuff too quickly!
